Never have you ever been to a "fritkot"?

Writer: My DiscoveriesMy Discoveries

As French fries are a typical Belgian speciality, for the second Belgian word, we wanted to spotlight this delicious meal!

Where do you usually go when you want to eat some French fries? Belgian people use a specific word which is :

A fritkot

A special name isn't it? This slang is a mix between two words : "frites" (french fries) and "kot" (a shed). They are also called "baraque à frites". It is not properly a restaurant but more a foodtruck where you take away your fries.

In Belgium, you can find 5000 fritkots and each of them is unique. The most famous ones in Brussels are located in Place Jourdan ("Maison Antoine") and in Place Flagey ("Frites Flagey").

Enjoy your french fries!
